'Greatest Showman,' 'Riverdale' win big at Teen Choice Awards

Aug. 12 (UPI) -- The circus-themed musical The Greatest Showman won the Teen Choice Award for Best Movie Drama Sunday night.

Cast members Zac Efron and Zendaya won for Best Actor and Actress in a Movie Drama. They also shared the fan-voted prizes for Movie Ship and Best Collaboration for the song "Rewrite the Stars."

The rom-com Love, Simon won for Best Comedy Movie and its lead Nick Robinson was deemed Best Breakout Movie Star.

The a capella adventure Pitch Perfect 3's star Anna Kendrick went home with the surfboard trophies for Best Actress in a Movie Comedy and Choice Twitter account.

Dwayne Johnson earned the prize for Actor in a Comedy Movie for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

The Summer Movie Actor and Actress accolades went to Jurassic World co-stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The Incredibles 2 was voted Best Summer Movie.

Avengers: Infinity War won for Best Action Movie and its stars Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson scored the Action Movie Actor and Actress awards.

Black Panther earned the Best Sci-Fi Movie title and its stars Letitia Wright and Michael B. Jordan won for Sci-Fi Movie Actress and Movie Villain. The Sci-Fi Movie Actor award went to Chris Hemsworth for Thor: Ragnarok.

Riverdale, the CW's dark take on the Archie Comics series, cleaned up in the television categories.

In addition to winning the Teen Choice Award for Drama TV Show, Mark Consuelos won for TV Villain, Madelaine Petsch won for Hissy Fit, Vanessa Morgan won for both TV Breakout Star and Scene Stealer, and Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart won for TV Ship and Lip Lock.

Reinhart also earned the honor for TV Drama Actress and Sprouse went home with the trophies for TV Drama Actor and Male Hottie.

The Big Bang Theory was voted Best TV Comedy and Jane the Virgin co-stars Gina Rodriguez and Jaime Camil won for TV Comedy Actress and Actor.

The Flash was deemed Best Action TV Show and its star Grant Gustin was named Best Action TV star. Supergirl star Melissa Benoist won for Action TV Actress.

Olivia Holt was elected Summer TV star for Marvel's Cloak & Dagger and singer Lauren Jauregui won for Female Hottie.

BTS grabbed the prize for Best International Artist and the Male Artist award was presented to Louis Tomlinson. Camila Cabello was voted Best Female Artist.

Nick Cannon hosted the gala, which aired live on Fox. Among the performers who took the stage were Lauv, Meghan Trainor and Khalid.
