Vice President Kamala Harris commemorates the 59th anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma, Ala., on March 3, 2024. On March 7, 1965, civil rights marchers were attacked by police with tear gas and beaten with clubs on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. In marking the anniversary, Harris was joined by civil rights leaders, including the Rev. Al Sharpton. She used the occasion to call for a cease-fire in Gaza.
