Athens, Greece, police ban planned ultra-right, anti-fascist rallies

ATHENS, Greece, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Protest marches planned in Athens, Greece, by ultra-right and anti-fascist groups were banned in a bid to avert clashes between the groups, police said Friday.

The rally by the right-wing Golden Dawn party was to begin Saturday evening, and was called to demand the pre-trial release of party leader Nikos Michaloliakos and two other Parliament members, spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris said.
