Woman admits three murders in London court

LONDON, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- A woman in England surprised a court by admitting she murdered three men, earlier this year, and dumped their bodies in ditches, court records said.

Joanna Dennehy, 30, admitted killing Kevin Lee, 48, Lukasz Slaboszewski, 31, and John Chapman, 56, in separate incidents. Their bodies, with stab wounds, were found in ditches near Newborough in March and April.

She also admitted the attempted murders of two other men and preventing the lawful burial of the three murdered men, the The Daily Telegraph reported Monday. Dennehy did not offer a motive.

Her pleas in a London court took her defense attorney by surprise, the newspaper noted.

"The course is not one I had anticipated. We ask for more time, given what has just occurred," said Nigel Lickley.

Dennehy responded, "I have pleaded guilty and that's it."

The judge ordered Dennehy's defense team to notify the court if her guilty pleas will be retracted.
