KABUL, Afghanistan, July 23 (UPI) -- A day after Afghanistan warned Pakistan any further shelling could damage relations, more artillery rounds from Pakistan hit Afghanistan, local officials said.
The Washington Post reported the rounds were fired across the border Sunday night and Monday.
The barrage mostly hit the Dangam district of Kunar province. There were no injuries, the Post said, though a spokesman for Kunar's governor said four civilians were killed in shelling earlier in the weekend.
Kunar Police Chief Ewaz Mohammad Naziri said nearly 2,000 shells, mostly artillery rounds, have hit the the province in recent months.
Deputy Afghan Foreign Minister Jawed Ludin met with Pakistan's ambassador to Kabul Sunday, warning "Any continuation of such reported shelling against Afghan villages could have a significant negative impact on bilateral relations," the Post reported.
Pakistan has denied it is doing the shelling.
