Cops: Florida road-rage gunman was bipolar

ODESSA, Fla., Aug. 10 (UPI) -- A Florida man involved in a road-rage shooting before shooting himself had anger issues and was bipolar, investigators said Monday.

Pasco County Sheriff Bob White told a news conference that Michael Hanley, 34, Odessa, had been prone to fits of anger prior to Sunday's incident that left an 18-year-old man wounded in the leg.

The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported that Hanley allegedly fired six shots at a jeep that was waiting to make a turn at an intersection in Odessa on Sunday. One of the bullets struck passenger Stewart Jones in the leg.

Hanley sped off and was found dead a short time later clad in body armor and with a pistol and semi-automatic rifle in his vehicle. Deputies say he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
