Alleged Simpson victim threatened cop

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Public records indicated the man who was allegedly robbed by O.J. Simpson in Las Vegas once threatened the lives of a California state trooper's family.

Alfred Beardsley was arrested for urinating in public in 2003 and documents obtained by TheSmokingGun.com said the man, who was reportedly slurring his speech and smelled of alcohol, told a Highway Patrol trooper that he possessed a 9mm. gun and "would kill (the cop's) family with the weapon," the New York Daily News reported Monday.

The death threat resulted in a felony charge for Beardsley.

Prosecutors accuse Simpson and armed accomplices of breaking into Beardsley's Las Vegas hotel room and stealing about $100,000 worth of memorabilia Sept. 13. However, Simpson claimed the items, which included a plaque from his Hall of Fame induction, had been stolen from him and he was retrieving them in a "sting" operation.
