Judge orders paternity test in Duke case

DURHAM, N.C., Dec. 15 (UPI) -- A judge in North Carolina Friday ordered a paternity test for the young woman who claims she was raped by three Duke University lacrosse players in March.

The baby is due in March, the Raleigh News & Sentinel reported.

A lawyer for one of the three students charged in the case requested the test to show that neither his client nor his teammates is the father.

The accuser, a student at a public college in Durham, said that she was assaulted in a bathroom during a party where she and another woman were performing as exotic dancers. District Attorney Mike Nifong charged the three students, but the woman's credibility has been damaged by information that has become public since their arrest, including a lack of DNA evidence.
