Malcolm X's gramdson arrested

YONKERS, N.Y., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Malcolm Shabazz, the grandson of slain Black Muslim leader Malcolm X, has been charged with breaking the window of a donut shop in Yonkers, N.Y.

Police said there appeared to be no reason for the 21-year-old man to put his fist through the window of a Dunkin Donuts, the White Plains Journal reported. His arm was cut and two people inside the store suffered minor injuries.

Shabazz has had a troubled life. When he was 12, he set a fire that took the life of his grandmother, Betty Shabazz, widow of Malcolm X.

He spent several years in juvenile facilities and has also served a short sentence as an adult for robbery.

A municipal judge ordered Shabazz held without bail pending another hearing Monday.
