Bodies appear to be pregnant mom, son

FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Fort Worth police Tuesday found two bodies that appeared to match those of a missing pregnant mother and her 7-year-old son.

Lt. Gene Jones said the remains were not immediately identified, but they appear to match Lisa Underwood, 34, and her son, Jayden, 7, who have been missing since Saturday.

Officers were guided to the remote area north of Fort Worth by a suspect, Stephen Barbee, who was arrested earlier in the day at Tyler, about 130 miles east of Dallas, where he was working.

Barbee, 37, of Fort Worth, was charged with capital murder and then transferred to Fort Worth. His bond was set $2 million.

Jones told reporters that Barbee and Lisa Underwood, who was seven months pregnant, had been "romantically involved" in the past..

Jayden's father lives in Missouri, but the father of the unborn child has not been determined, Jones said.

An Amber Alert had been issued for Lisa Underwood and her son Saturday, after she failed to show up for a baby shower. The national alert was canceled early Tuesday.
