Enron's Ken Lay uses Web site for support

HOUSTON, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Ken Lay, the former head of Houston-based Enron, is using his own Web site to put his side of things out to the public and reporters.

Lay's computer-literate litigation team is making use of "sponsored links" and the Web site kenlayinfo.com to highlight carefully chosen articles about their client, interviews with Lay, some of his legal filings, biographical information and some op-ed pieces written by Lay, the Houston Chronicle reports.

While other 21st century defendants such as Martha Stewart and Michael Jackson have used the Internet to garner public support, Lay has taken it a step further.

Lay is paying 12 cents a hit to make sure major Internet search engines such as Google and Yahoo list his site first whenever a Web surfer searches for his name, Enron and related terms.

"I want people to understand Ken Lay's position," said Lay's Houston lawyer, Mike Ramsey. "I said that if we were going to do a Web site at all, do it so people can find it."
