Bush more attractive than Kerry: poll

SEATTLE, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- If rules of attraction decided the presidential election, President George W. Bush would win in a landslide, a new poll says.

Some 67 percent, or more than two-thirds of American respondents believe Bush is more attractive than his Democratic challenger, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, says the poll by the independent global market research company GMI.

However, Kerry can still hope his wife's beauty can carry him into the White House. The same poll said respondents found Teresa Heinz Kerry more attractive than First Lady Laura Bush by a margin of 56 percent to 44 percent.

Also, the poll found a majority of undecided voters base their eventual choice more on the candidates' political platforms than on their personal values or belief systems.

The poll was conducted in August and sampled what it described as "1,000 media-informed individuals" across the nation and claimed 97 percent accuracy in its statistical results.
