9/11 commission wants Cheney's information

WASHINGTON, June 20 (UPI) -- The 9/11 commission wants Vice President Dick Cheney to disclose any information he has about ties between al Qaida and Iraq, the panel chairman said Sunday.

Commission Chairman Tom Kean said he doesn't see "any serious conflicts" between the commission's staff reports and the White House over whether Iraq played a role in the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington, CNN reported.

Both have said there is no evidence to suggest that then-Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's government was involved in those attacks.

"We believe in the commission that there were a lot more active contacts, frankly, with Iran and with Pakistan than there were with Iraq," Kean said.

"Our investigation is continuing. We're not finished yet. If the administration has materials that we still need to see, I'm sure we'll see them."

The panel interviewed Cheney and President Bush for their report on April 29 at the White House.

Cheney spokesman Kevin Kellems said the vice president's office has not yet received any request for additional information.
