Ryan wins Ohio 17th

CLEVELAND, May 7 (UPI) -- Ohio state Sen. Timothy Ryan on Tuesday captured the Democratic nomination in Ohio's redrawn 17th Congressional District, defeating incumbent Tom Sawyer. In the general election, Ryan will face flamboyant, recently convicted Rep. James Traficant, who has filed to run as an independent. Ryan captured 43 percent of the vote in Tuesday's election to Sawyer's 24 percent in a field of six candidates.
