Man shot at Mobile Register

MOBILE, Ala., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- A mailroom employee at the Mobile Register shot and killed one of his co-workers Tuesday just as a Mardi Gras parade was about to begin, police said.

Mobile police officer John Goodwin said Roderick Seals allegedly shot and killed 29-year-old Christopher Lawrence after the two-part time employees got into an argument.

The newspaper building in downtown Mobile was evacuated while police searched for the gunman, Goodwin said.

Seals, 42, was arrested at his home about a half-mile from the newspaper, he said. He is charged with murder, according to a Mobile Police Department news release.

Goodwin said the Order of Lashe's Mardi Gras parade continued on its route in front of the Register building Tuesday night.

The mailroom, where newspapers are assembled, is located on the third floor of the Register building.
