Washington Wizards' John Wall undergoes successful Achilles surgery

Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Washington Wizards point guard John Wall underwent successful surgery on his ruptured left Achilles Tuesday.

Sources told The Athletic and the Washington Post that Wall's surgery went off without a hitch. Wall could miss as little as 11 months or as long as 15 months.

The Wizards announced last week that Wall required surgery after a slip and fall in his home.

Washington previously ruled Wall out for the season at the end of December as he needed surgery to address bone spurs in his left heel.

The team announced last Tuesday that the star point guard developed an infection in the incision from initial surgery Jan. 8. Dr. Robert Anderson performed a debridement and repair of a Haglund's deformity and a chronic Achilles tendon injury in his left heel.

Wall played in 32 games this season and averaged 20.7 points and 8.7 assists. The 28-year-old guard was limited to 41 contests last season, primarily due to surgery on his left knee. Wall also underwent surgery on both knees in 2016.

Washington is 24-33 this season and sit at 11th in the Eastern Conference. The Wizards travel to play the Toronto Raptors Wednesday night.
