Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Cleveland Cavaliers star Kevin Love sported a Buddy the Elf costume and visited children at a Cleveland hospital, while joined by normally-dressed teammates.

"Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color? In the Spirit of Giving we visited Cleveland Clinic Children's to spread some holiday cheer," Love wrote for the caption on social media posts.

Matthew Dellavedova and Channing Frye were among the full roster of Cavaliers players visiting the hospital on Thursday.

The group walked from room-to-room, delivering special gifts to the children and speaking with their families. Love quoted the Christmas classic Elf as he walked the halls.

One family sent a message to Fox 8 News in Cleveland following the visit.

"Kevin and the Cavs visited my nephew Ray and his family today at the hospital," the message said. "Ray is a 3-year-old who is currently battling cancer. He currently has a two week life expectancy! Thank you Cavs for putting smiles on my family's faces during this difficult time."

Frye responded to the message from the family.

"I'm glad that we could do something to help," Frye tweeted. "It was my honor to put a smile on those kids faces and hopefully give them a couple minutes of happiness."

Love might have stolen the show, sporting Buddy's token top hat and bright green and yellow garb on his 6-foot-10 frame. The five-time All-Star made the appearance as he recovers from toe surgery. Love hasn't played since Oct. 24 due to the injury.
