Barkley 'apologizes' to 'big ol' women' of San Antonio, praises churros

By Alex Butler

May 2 (UPI) -- Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley said he was apologizing Monday to the women of San Antonio, but it didn't come out so sincerely.

In 2014, Barkley referred to the city as a "gold mine for Weight Watchers." He also said "Victoria is definitely a secret."

Just before the Houston Rockets battled the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs Monday, Barkley spoke again about the women of the Texas city.

"I got to apologize to somebody tonight to," Barkley said on the NBA on TNT. "I want to apologize to the women of San Antonio. Because Ernie [Johnson], I had churros last night. I see what all the excitement is about. I had churros last night. "

"Them churros good. I see why they got all the big ol' women down there. Them churros are the bomb."

Barkley said he had vanilla ice cream with the churros.

After the comments, co-analyst Shaquille O'Neal keeled over the desk in laughter.
