MLB: Detroit 5, Tampa Bay 2

DETROIT, April 10 (UPI) -- Austin Jackson hit a home run and Prince Fielder keyed a three-run rally Tuesday in pacing the Detroit Tigers to a 5-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

The win left the Tigers as the only undefeated team in the American League as Tampa Bay lost for the first time this season.

Jackson's seventh-inning home run tied the score at 2-2 and, after Miguel Cabrera doubled to open the Detroit eighth, Fielder delivered an RBI single that broke the tie and handed the loss to Tampa Bay reliever Jake McGee (0-1).

McGee was pulled but Delmon Young singled. Fielder and pinch-runner Clete Thomas moved up on a grounder. Fielder scored on a sacrifice fly and Thomas made it 5-2 on Gerald Laird's single.

Phil Coke (1-0) pitched one inning of relief for the win and Jose Valverde got his first save.

Detroit starter Rick Porcello lasted seven innings, giving up seven hits and both Tampa Bay runs. The Rays got a bases-loaded walk by Evan Longoria in the second and went up 2-1 in the seventh when Jose Molina doubled and Desmond Jennings had a two-out, RBI single.
