BALTIMORE, July 28 (UPI) -- Ross Gload hit a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning Friday night to give the Chicago White Sox a 6-4 win over Baltimore.
Tadahito Iguchi hit a sacrifice fly; Brian Anderson hit an RBI ground-out; and Jim Thome and A.J. Pierzynski, who scored a run, both had two hits for the White Sox (60-41), who snapped a three-game losing streak.
The defending world champions have only three wins in their last 13 games, and trail the New York Yankees by 1/2 game in the American League wild-card race.
In relief, the winner was Matt Thornton (4-1). Bobby Jenks earned his 27th save of the season.
Miguel Tejada had two hits and two RBI, Kevin Millar hit an RBI double, and Brian Roberts hit a solo home run for the Orioles (47-57), who had won their previous two games.
The loser was Chris Ray (1-3).
