'Vampire Diaries' alums Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley reunite

Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Former Vampire Diaries stars Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley reunited over the weekend.

Somerhalder, 39, and Wesley, 35, attended the The Vampire Diaries official convention at Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.

Wesley shared a photo with his former co-star Saturday on Instagram Stories. The pair played brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, with Wesley also appearing in an episode of the show's spinoff, The Originals.

"Reunion," the actor captioned the picture.

The Vampire Diaries ended in March 2017 after an eight-season run on The CW. Fans were thrilled to see Somerhalder and Wesley reunite at the convention, voicing their excitement on social media.

"Omggg Paul and Ian had a reunion," one person tweeted.

"I'm so happy that Ian and Paul had a reunion #TVDFOREVER," another wrote.

The Vampire Diaries co-starred Nina Dobrev, who reunited with Wesley in December. The actress played Elena Gilbert in the show's first six seasons, and returned as a guest star in the series finale.

"I am satisfied with the way the show ends -- the fact that Elena finds peace and becomes human, which is what she always wanted," she told Entertainment Weekly after the finale.
