LOS ANGELES, March 25 (UPI) -- Wonder Woman and her warriors assemble in a new photo for the Wonder Woman solo film.

Entertainment Weekly released a first look of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) with her mom, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) and aunts General Antiope (Robin Wright) and Lieutenant Menalippe (Lisa Oven Kongsli) on Thursday.

In the DC comics, Wonder Woman is an Amazon princess who grows up on the female-only island of Themyscira. The character assumes the identity of a nurse, Diana Prince, after she leaves for the United States with love interest Steve Trevor.

"She is the only child they raised together," director Patty Jenkins said of the character's family. "And their love for her manifests in a different way for each of them."

"I, as a woman, want Wonder Woman to be hot as hell, fight badass and look great at the same time," she added of the superhero's look. "The same way men want Superman to have huge pecs and an impractically big body. That makes them feel like the hero they want to be. And my hero, in my head, has really long legs."

Wonder Woman will see the character transform into "the greatest female warrior of all time." The movie opens in theaters June 23, 2017, with Chris Pine as Steve Trevor and Danny Huston, David Thewlis and Ewen Bremner in undisclosed roles.

The new promo comes amid word Gadot steals the show in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The movie opens in the United States on Friday and has grossed $7 million so far internationally. Ben Affleck stars as Batman with Henry Cavill as Superman.
