LOS ANGELES, March 14 (UPI) -- Jessica Simpson is making headlines for her latest odd Instagram post. The 35-year-old designer delighted and dismayed fans by sharing a photo of herself touching tongues with husband Eric Johnson on a date night Saturday.

Simpson's snapshot disgusted some social media users, several of whom unfollowed her on Instagram. Others defended the star's post as a playful, albeit unconventional, show of PDA.
"She can post what she wants to post - and I love seeing her be playful and having fun with her husband and not caring about societies standards for social media," one user wrote.
Simpson is known for her odd Instagram posts, which have included a photo of herself sprawled out on the carpet. She was also criticized last month for captioning a picture of her 3-year-old daughter with lyrics to the Kelis hit "Milkshake."
Simpson and Johnson have been together since 2010 and married in 2014. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Maxwell, in 2012, and son Ace followed in 2013.
"Eric is the best. Being married, for me, it defines me so much more than even having kids," Simpson told Access Hollywood after her wedding. "We still feel like we're on our honeymoon."
"[Marriage] actually has changed my style," she added. "I'm very into slip dresses and everything's a little bit sexier. I feel sexier as a wife and a mom!"
Simpson was previously wed to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006. The designer, who last released the holiday album Happy Christmas in 2010, has her eighth studio album in the works and continues to oversee her Jessica Simpson Collection fashion line.
