Baseball great Derek Jeter, Hannah Davis engaged

NEW YORK, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Former Yankees star Derek Jeter proposed to Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Hannah Davis, according to reports.

"Yes, they are engaged!" an insider told Us Weekly. "They like to keep everything private."

According to New York Daily News, Davis "already has the ring," and her family "is very happy because they really like him." The private couple reportedly started dating back in 2012 and have only recently started to make public appearances together.

Jeter has famously dated Friday Night Lights actress Minka Kelly and as been attached to other Hollywood stars including Vanessa Lachey, Jordana Brewster and Mariah Carey.

This will be the first marriage for the baseball great who, after retiring from the sport, mentioned how he was looking forward to possibly starting a family.

"I just know that I personally couldn't have done it while I was playing," Jeter reflected to Steiner Sports Marketing of settling down. "I was too selfish to be able to juggle a family and kids. But I look forward to it happening."

Jeter, 41, is now one year removed since retiring from baseball after a legendary, 20-season career.
