Schneider praises the R-rated comedy

NEW YORK, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Rob Schneider says he is glad audiences are flocking to R-rated comedy films like "Wedding Crashers."

The former "Saturday Night Live" star told reporters in New York recently that he hopes as many people turn out to see his new movie, "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo," as showed up to watch the outrageous Vince Vaughn-Owen Wilson blockbuster earlier this summer.

"I'm happy 'Wedding Crashers' did good. All the comedies I loved when I was a kid in the 1970s were rated R," Schneider recalled. "Comedies are watered down now. I had Richard Pryor. I had Gene Wilder, Mel Brooks, Monty Python. These were really funny movies and I feel like kids are ripped off these days. I feel sad for them."

Admitting that his movie's raunchy humor isn't appropriate for young children, Schneider said he hopes parents will take their older kids to see it and enjoy the movie together.

"Go and have fun," he instructed.
