Nov. 24 (UPI) -- The American Music Awards kick off Sunday night with an opening performance by Katy Perry, who will sing her album's second single, "Unconditionally." Last week she debuted the ballad's music video, a glamourous tribute to Anna Karenina and period ballroom dancing.

But it looks like she'll take her AMAs performance in a difference direction. The 29-year-old singer took to Twitter Sunday to share a photo of her microphone, decorated with Japanese-style cherry blossoms.

Miley Cyrus will close the awards show, though she's been less open about the nature of her performance. But the singer, who celebrated her 21st birthday on Saturday, has dominated watercooler conversation for months with her VMAs twerking and EMAs joint-smoking. So look out for more outrageous onstage antics.

"I'm so tired. But there's more werk to be done before @TheAMAs," she tweeted last Monday.

Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Gaga and Rihanna will also perform.

The show begins 8 pm ET on ABC.
