The aircraft, a Boeing 737-400, ripped through an airport perimeter fence, a parking lot, a guardrail and came to a stop on the highway. Investigators have not determined what caused the cargo plane to slide off the runway. It was raining at the time of the incident.

The two pilots aboard and drivers along the highway were not injured.

The airport closed for a short period as a result of the incident.
