BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- An Argentine prosecutor filed a request for a federal judge to investigate President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner on allegations she helped cover up the bombing of a Jewish center in which 85 people died.

Prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita filed the paperwork Friday for the case which he inherited from Alberto Nisman, a prosecutor who was found dead with an arrest warrant for Kirchner in the garbage at his home.

Nisman and Pollicita both accused Kirchner and others of a coverup related to the 1994 bombing of the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) Jewish center. Kirchner has denied the accusations.

Should the judge feel there is enough evidence to prove Kirchner committed a crime, she could be charged and prosecuted.
