TransAsia Airways Flight GE222 crashed Wednesday evening while attempting to land at Magong airport on one of Taiwan's Penghu Islands. It had taken off from Koasiung, Taiwan, and crashed around 7:00 p.m. local time.
Four of the surviving passengers sought help after the crash at a nearby home. A female passenger directed residents to "Quick, call an ambulance," explaining "Our plane has crashed."
TransAsia said Thursday that seven of the injured were moved to hospitals on the main island while two other survivors, critically injured, could not yet be moved.
Weather may have played a role in the crash. Typhoon Matmo made landfall in Taiwan on Tuesday, with winds up to 98 mph and gusts upward of 121 mph. Severe weather continued into Wednesday.
