HANOI, Vietnam, May 18 (UPI) -- Anti-Chinese riots that destroyed factories and resulted in two deaths in Vietnam were halted by law enforcement Sunday.
The violent protests started about a week ago after a Chinese oil rig positioned itself in disputed waters in the South China Sea.

The Vietnamese government Sunday deployed law enforcement officers around the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi and the Chinese Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City. Officials said demonstrators would be arrested and prosecuted.
The riots have resulted in the deaths of two Chinese workers and the injury of more than 100 others.
More than 3,000 Chinese workers in Vietnam have been transported back to China by their home government.
