TORONTO, May 30 (UPI) -- Toronto police said a second man faces charges in the death of a man linked to Mayor Rob Ford, as a report said Ford knew of a video showing him using drugs.
Hanad Mohamed, 23, of Toronto was arrested in Alberta province and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Anthony Smith, 21, in March, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. Nisar Hashimi, 21, was charged in April in Smith's killing.
In a photo provided to Gawker and The Toronto Star, Smith is shown with his arm around Ford. The photo was provided by the same people who showed Gawker and the Star a video of Ford appearing to smoke crack cocaine and using homophobic and racist slurs.
Ford has denied using crack and said Sunday "there's no video," but the Star reported Thursday Ford told senior aides in a May 17 meeting in his office not to worry about the video because he knew where it was.
The report said Ford, citing "our sources," told his aides the video was in two 17th-floor units of a Toronto apartment complex.
Two more Ford staffer quit Thursday, bringing to five the number of senior officials who have resigned or been fired in the past week. Brian Johnston, the mayor's adviser on council relations, was walked out of City Hall by security. Earlier in the day, Kia Nejatian, Ford's executive assistant, quit.
The Star reported Wednesday workers in Ford's office were balking at an order to destroy email and telephone records. The report did not say who issued the order, and top officials in Ford's office declined to discuss the matter, the newspaper said.
Citing sources it did not identify, the Star said it learned this week Ford aide David Price told others in the mayor's office the video may have been the reason why Smith was killed soon after news of the video surfaced.
