The website said the Fyris river, which runs through Uppsala, had flooded its banks and water flooded homes nearby.

TT News Agency said floodwaters were expected to crest sometime this weekend. Train lines between Uppsala and Stockholm were expected to remain open but delays were expected due to water on the tracks.
