Abbas says ties between Zionism and Nazis

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said he challenges anyone "to deny the relationship between Zionism and Nazism before World War II."

The Palestinian leader said he has "70 more books that I still haven't published" concerning ties between the Zionist movement and the Nazis.

"I challenge anyone to deny the relationship between Zionism and Nazism before World War II," Abbas said in an interview with al-Maydeen Monday television Monday. He did not elaborate.

Abbas also said in the interview to be broadcast in full Friday Israel had agreed to his request to permit about 150,000 Palestinian refugees living in Syria to move to the West Bank, Israel's Channel 2 reported.

Abbas said his request was relayed to Israel by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. But the Palestinian leader said he rejected Israel's demand the refugees sign a waiver relinquishing the right to return to their former homes inside Israel before they are allowed into the West Bank.

However, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's office denied any agreement had been reached on such a request, and one government official told Channel 2 the Abbas interview was full of "inaccuracies."
