Attack kills 1 policeman, 7 injured

GURBUKI, Russia, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Militants in Russia's Republic of Dagestan exploded a roadside bomb Thursday, killing a police officer and injuring seven others, officials said.

The attack occurred near the village of Gurbuki at about 3:15 p.m., ITAR-Tass reported.

Unidentified attackers opened fire on a police car from the woods. The driver was killed and seven other police officers were injured in the shootout, the Interior Ministry's press office said.

The militants fled the scene. An investigation into the incident was under way.
