Britain seeks the next James Bond

BLETCHLEY, England, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- British Foreign Secretary William Hague announced a drive to find the next generation of intelligence workers.

Speaking Thursday at the Government Communication Headquarters at Bletchley Park in Bletchley, England, an estate that was Britain's code-breaking and encryption center in World War II and now is a museum, Hague spoke of the importance of the next generation of GCHQ apprentices, regardless of their academic backgrounds, saying, "Young people are the key to our country's future success, just as they were during the war. It will be the young innovators of this generation who will keep our country safe in years to come against threats every bit as serious."

The British newspaper The Independent Friday referred to Hague's announcement as a "spy-drive" and a search "for the next James Bond."
