Man sets himself ablaze near Rome palace

ROME, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- A Romanian man set himself on fire outside of the Rome palace of Italian President Giorgio Napolitano Thursday, officials said.

The 55-year-old man, whose name was not released, received emergency medical assistance shortly after he set himself ablaze and was taken to hospital, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.

He suffered many burns, but was in stable condition, the report said.

Why the man set himself on fire was not reported.
