LAGOS, Nigeria, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Ten vehicles filled with about 300 explosive devices have been seized in the wake of deadly bombings in the northern Nigerian city of Kano, officials said.

Community leaders say the death toll from Friday's bomb and gun attacks on eight government sites has risen to at least 211. The number given out by officials was 157 but community leaders say they're keeping their own count, CNN reported Monday.

The Islamist group Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

At least 11 people were killed Sunday in an attack on a security checkpoint in the neighboring Nigerian state of Bauchi, the state police commissioner said. Attacks were also reported at two churches.
