No ID yet on body at queen's estate

KING'S LYNN, England, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Investigators are trying to determine whether a body found on Queen Elizabeth's estate in eastern England is one of two young women who disappeared in August.

Police have described the body as that of a teenager or woman who appeared to be between the ages of 15 and 23, The Guardian reported. A dog walker found the remains New Year's Day on the Sandringham estate, where the royal family was spending the Christmas holidays.

The two missing women have been identified as Alisa Dmitrijeva, 17, from Wisbech, and Vitalija Baliutaviciene, 29, from Peterborough. Wisbech is about 15 miles from Sandringham and Peterborough about 30 miles.

Detective Chief Inspector Jes Fry said this week "circumstances suggest this is a murder case." Fry said police are pursuing a number of possibilities.

"We will be focusing on all local missing persons and then spread our catchment area depending on how our investigation goes. Part of the post-mortem will try to establish the identification through fingerprints or DNA which may help us identify who the victim is more quickly," he said. "Hopefully in the next day or so we will have a good idea who we are dealing with and that may open fresh lines of inquiry."

The Sandringham estate is large, and the body was discovered about 2 miles from Sandringham House.
