Russia: Investigate Gadhafi killing

MOSCOW, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- The Russian foreign minister said the International Criminal Court should investigate the slaying of Moammar Gadhafi because "prisoners must not be killed."

"Now the International Criminal Court should investigate how he [Moammar Gadhafi] was killed. Prisoners must not be killed. It is necessary to ensure their security. Whether prisoners are killed, a military crime is committed. And this is one of the reasons for what the International Criminal Court can and must interfere in," Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told journalists Monday, the Russian news agency ITAR-Tass reported.

"We respect the position by human rights activists. But when for the sake of human rights people are killed and when one say until the regime is changed, civilians will be posed a threat, then peaceful civilians are becoming subject of bargaining and their lives are the cost for achieving geopolitical goals."

"The main right of a person is the right to life. It was grossly violated in Libya," Lavrov said.
