Suicide bomber kills politician, bodyguard

PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- A suicide bomber killed Hanif Jadoon, a Pakistani politician, and his bodyguard and injured nine other people in northwest Pakistan Monday, police said.

Jadoon was a member of the Awami National Party.

The attack occurred in the Swabi district in the violence-torn Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, about 50 miles west of Islamabad, CNN reported.

Jadoon was leaving after completing his morning prayers at a mosque on the occasion of Eid al-Adha when the attacker approached his car and set off his explosives, police told CNN.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, police said.
