Suspected U.S. drone kills three

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 19 (UPI) -- A suspected U.S. drone Sunday killed three people at a site in Pakistan known to house Taliban militants, officials in South Waziristan said.

Five others were injured in the attack on the town of Gangi Khel, near the border with Afghanistan, CNN reported.

The Pakistani region has seen a sharp increase in the number of attacks from U.S. drones, although the U.S. military routinely offers no comment on cross-border strikes.

Taliban militants have vowed to conduct suicide attacks for each suspected strike.

The Taliban took credit Saturday for a suicide bombing of a convoy of soldiers and police that killed 28 people and injured 30 in the North-West Frontier, CNN said.

"We carried out the suicide attack and we will do more until U.S. drone attacks stop in the tribal areas," Maulvi Hakimullah Mehsud, a Taliban commander, said.
