Police seeking clues in missing teen case

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 16 (UPI) -- Police in Redwood City, Calif., said Thursday they are looking for clues on the whereabouts of a missing 17-year-old boy.

The San Francisco Chronicle said the San Mateo County sheriff's office has asked anyone with any information about the possible location of Luis Antonio Ortiz, who disappeared Tuesday, to contact authorities.

Ortiz called police the night of his disappearance to report two armed men who were breaking into his family's home in an unincorporated area near Redwood City.

While Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the home, they were unable to locate the teen. Police said Ortiz's two younger brothers, whose identities and ages were not reported, were found at the scene.

Traces of blood were later found in the home's yard, but neighbors reported no sign of potential suspects the night of the incident.

Unidentified friends and family of the missing teen told the Chronicle that Ortiz was not involved in any criminal or gang activities.
