Student pleads guilty in fatal hazing

LOGAN, Utah, March 25 (UPI) -- A Utah State University student has admitted her role in hazing that led to a student's drinking death in an agreement that could leave her with a clean record.

Sadie Green, 19, entered a plea in abeyance Monday, the Salt Lake Tribune reported. The agreement requires her to go through alcohol counseling and to make public statements about the dangers of binge drinking, prosecutor Tony Baird said.

If Green successfully completes her probation, her record is to be wiped clean after 12 months.

Green was one of the Chi Omega sorority members who captured Michael Stark on Nov. 21 as part of his initiation into the Sigma Nu fraternity. She is the first student involved in the case to plead guilty.

Stark died after drinking vodka at an off-campus house where his captors had taken him.

Several other students from both Chi Omega and Sigma Nu face charges.
