Bush has warning about Gitmo closing

WASHINGTON, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- U.S. President George Bush has warned his successor that closing the Guantanamo Bay detention center could boomerang, The Washington Times says.

Bush, in an interview, said closing the Cuban detention facility is "not as easy as it sounds." He advised President-Elect Barack Obama to make sure he has a way to prevent those released from coming back to attack the United States.

Bush expressed reservations about closing the military detention center without having a plan in place for "some of these very hard, coldblooded people."

Obama said it would be "a challenge" to close Guantanamo Bay in the first 100 days of his administration, as many supporters are urging.

On another matter, Bush said he saw a glimmer of hope for the economy in the "stimulative" drop in gasoline prices.
