NATO admiral sent home to Denmark

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- A Danish admiral has been sent home from his job at NATO operations in the United States, a Danish tabloid reports.

Ekstra Badet said its sources told it Rear Adm. Torben Orting Jorgensen was dispatched home from Virginia two months ago because he was too blunt and did not show enough respect to his superiors, the Copenhagen Post reported Friday.

The Defense Ministry has not discussed the matter, citing its policy of not commenting on personal affairs, the Post said.

Jorgensen, who was told not to report back to work, had not had a history of such problems but officers in the American military are said to put more emphasis on rank than their Danish counterparts, the Post said.
