Mom charged with killing boy found in car

GREAT FALLS, Mont., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- A Montana woman has been charged with killing her 2-year-old son, whose decomposed body was discovered in the trunk of her car.

Bail was set at $250,000 for Summer Lee Many White Horses, The Great Falls Tribune reported. She appeared at her hearing Monday by video link from the Cascade County Jail in Great Falls.

She was charged with the deliberate homicide of her son, James, tampering with evidence and obstructing a police officer.

A prosecutor said that Many White Horse's alleged lies about her son's whereabouts and her unstable life and frequent moves delayed the discovery of his death. Police found the body Friday after she allegedly told them where it was during questioning.

"There's been months of deception and false stories about this child's location ... that delayed the discovery of the victim for so long," said Deputy District Attorney Joel Thompson.

Many White Horse's brother called her a loving mother. But an aunt, Elissie Buffalo, said that she never "bonded" with the boy, the Tribune reported.
