Cindy McCain, Palin disagree on abortion

ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Cindy McCain says she doesn't agree with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's view that abortion should be illegal without any exceptions.

"I'm pro-life, I'm on the record as being pro-life, like my husband," soon-to-be-Republican presidential nominee John McCain, Cindy McCain said in an interview Wednesday with CBS News in St. Paul, Minn., site of the Republican National Convention.

While she and vice presidential candidate Palin agree that abortion should be illegal, Cindy McCain said she favored exceptions for victims of rape or incest, or to protect a woman's health.

"What I agree with is the fact that she is a social conservative, she is a reform-minded woman, she is someone that will shake Washington up, which is exactly what we want to do," McCain said. "We don't have to agree on every issue."
