Ohio man accused of killing family, arson

MASON, Ohio, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Police have accused a man in Mason, Ohio, of killing his wife and four children before setting his home ablaze.

Authorities, responding to a 911 call about a fire at the family's home, found Michel Veillette on the lawn with stab wounds. They subsequently charged the 34-year-old with killing the five members of his family and aggravated arson, The Cincinnati Enquirer said Saturday.

Police spokesman Troy Nelson said Veillette's wife Nadya was found dead of stab wounds in the home Friday night, while the children died of other causes.

One of the children, who were all between the ages of 3 and 8, also was found dead inside the home, while the other three died later at a local hospital.

Nelson said Veillette was in critical-but-stable condition at a separate hospital.

The family had purchased the home in April 2006. Individuals familiar with members of the family said there were no signs of any problems prior to Friday's tragedy, the Enquirer reported.
