Gang members held in NBA home robberies

CHICAGO, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Four young members of a Chicago-area gang were arrested this week in the home-invasion robberies of NBA players Antoine Walker and Eddy Curry.

Police said the alleged robbery crew staked out the suburban Chicago homes of the players before moving in at gunpoint to relieve the occupants of cash and jewelry.

Investigators believe the suspects followed their victims from area gyms where NBA players were known to work out during the off-season, the Chicago Sun-Times said Saturday.

Both Curry and Walker were home at the time of last month’s robberies and were bound with duct tape along with the other people who were there.

The Sun-Times said the players told police they didn’t know the suspects, who were reputed to be from the Traveling Vice Lords gang.
