Ohio bill would let smokers have a cigar

CINCINNATI, July 15 (UPI) -- A proposed Ohio law would allow smoking at cigar bars despite a new indoor smoking ban.

The exemption from smoking laws would apply to bars and restaurants with large, walk-in humidors and a minimum of four air-filtration systems, The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

In November, Ohio became the latest state to ban smoking in nearly all enclosed workplaces.

Though the exemption for cigar bars is unlikely to pass, it is part of a backlash against the ban by some retailers, the newspaper says. The Buckeye Liquor Permit Holders Association also has proposed a constitutional amendment exempting some establishments from smoking laws.
